In this workshop we will showcase inspiring roof gardens from around the world, discuss the many benefits, introduce various methods and technologies and demonstrate how to build your own self-watering container so you can be a part of roofscape transformation here in the Bay Area. Are you interested in learning the basics of beekeeping in the city? What about beekeeping on rooftops? Graze the Roof is excited to learn more about the possibility and invites you to join us for a presentation and discussion given by Susan Prentice and Paul Koski of the San Francisco Beekeepers Association where they will discuss the importance of bees and will discuss the time and cost of beekeeping, what equipment is needed, where to put a hive, how to extract honey and general maintenance and upkeep requirements. Anyone interested in bees and their impact on our environment are welcome to attend.

Suggested $10-15 donation, benefiting Graze the Roof (no one turned away for lack of funds).

Workshop: Build a Raised Bed out of Milk Crates
11AM - 3PM (new time)
Come enjoy a short and entertaining video on How-to Build a 2'x4' Raised Planter Bed, directed and edited by local filmmaker Mariana Lopez and then participate in a hands-on workshop where you will learn how to build one bed from start to finish. These containers are not only elegant, but affordable and made from reclaimed milk crates and refurbished shipping pallets. The planters are also strategically designed to capture, reduce, and re-use runoff and are appropriate for rooftops, patios, and contaminated sites. Come prepared to get a little dirty and engage in cutting, sanding, staining, nailing, and mixing soil.

Suggested $5 donation, benefiting Graze the Roof (no one turned away for lack of funds).
